Monday, October 19th we will be joined by longtime pastor, author, and teacher, Gene Getz for a discussion Pastor to Pastor about becoming the kind of churches that cultivate strong disciples. He'll be sticking around to have a Q&A session afterwards as well!
If Gene Getz is an unfamiliar name to you, it won't be for long! Gene has dedicated the last seventy years to equipping pastors and expanding the impact of the Church. His early career was spent in the world of academics, as a professor at Moody Bible Institute, then at Dallas Theological Seminary. While teaching at DTS, Gene wrote "Sharpening the Focus of the Church." This book led to his launching of Fellowship Bible Church in 1972, starting a movement that continues today in the form of hundreds of Fellowship-type churches around the world.
Gene’s efforts over the years have directly impacted the lives of millions of individuals. He has written more than 60 books most of which grew out of his experience as a pastor. "The Measure of a Man" has become a classic and has never gone out of print in more than forty years. In 2011, he authored the first multimedia study Bible, the Life Essentials Study Bible. Its unique format includes 1500 supracultural “principles to live by,” each with a QR code providing access to a total of 250 total hours of video teaching. This Bible is impacting people around the globe and more recently the prison populations across the U.S.A.
Now in his 90’s, Gene continues to be involved in many teaching efforts including men’s conferences, church services and other special speaking events across the U.S.A. and in a variety of international locations. And as a pastor, he always strives to make himself available to individuals and organizations as a counselor and consultant. In 2025, he rewrote and updated his classic book "Sharpening the Focus of the Church" now reaching a new generation of church leaders, which we will be touching on during our session.
